Lisa Iwaki, Piano

                                                                                                                                               

Pianist Lisa Iwaki has received warm praises for the musicality of her performances from critics and audiences alike. She is the recipient of top prizes and awards, including the Los Angeles Liszt Competition, Atwater Kent Concerto Competition, Benno Rubyini Competition for solo piano, and the Southwestern Youth Music Festival. In addition, she has given numerous performances of both solo and collaborative repertoire throughout the United States, in venues such as Steinway Hall and the Yamaha Artists Salon. Ms. Iwaki’s concerto performances include those with the Southwestern Youth Music Festival Orchestra, the Saddleback Symphony, and the UCLA Philharmonia Orchestra performing the first movement of Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto. She has played in masterclasses for Pascal Roge, Gilbert Kalish, and Max Levinson, among others. 

As an avid chamber musician and collaborative pianist, Ms. Iwaki was a finalist in the 2007 Coleman National Chamber Ensemble Competition. Her trio performed in numerous venues throughout Los Angeles as Maxwell Gluck Foundation Music Outreach Program Fellows.

Ms. Iwaki graduated with the Master of Music degree under the tutelage of Phillip Kawin, as the recipient of the Jay Rubinton Scholarship. Her previous teachers include Yoshie Akimoto and Walter Ponce.
