For the months of September & October 2008, we are happy to announce David & Amanda Stachnik as “Students of the Month”. David & Amanda have been studying piano here at New York Music & Arts ever since the school opened, their abilities and dedication to the piano have shown consistently through out the years. David & Amanda frequently performed at our student recitals. Most recently, they both have received near perfect score on the NYSSMA exam. Congratulations! We interviewed David & Amanda and asked them a few questions:
NYMA: So, how old are you? And which grade are you going in September?
David: I am 12 now and going to 7th grade at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills.
Amanda: I am 7 and going to 3rd grade in P.S. 196 in Forest Hills.
NYMA: What are your favorite activities?
David & Amanda: Swimming, dancing, video games, and of course, playing the piano!
NYMA: What is your favorite food?
David & Amanda: Too many! Roasted Chicken, Calamari, Broccoli & cheese soup to name a few.
NYMA: Wow, sounds like you guys always have a good appetite! So how long have you been playing the piano what do you like most of piano?
David & Amanda: We have been playing piano for over a year and half. Initially, we see our friends play the piano, and then we became very interested ourselves. It is a lot of fun and piano is a very nice sounding instrument! Learning music is refreshing! Our teacher Ms. Xu is also fun to have lessons with. She is very caring and encouraging.
NYMA: Fantastic! We are very proud to see the improvement you both have achieved. Congratulations on the NYSSAM exam! We can’t believe it was your first try!
David & Amanda: Thank you! We can’t wait for the exam next year!
NYMA: What do you want to become in the future?
David: A lawyer.
Amanda: An Artist for sure!
