Victor Ngo,
Piano
Born and raised in
Las Vegas, Nevada, pianist Victor
Ngo completed his graduate studies
at The prestigious Juilliard School
under Julian Martin. Highlighting
his most recent performance are
chamber and solo
performances at Alice
Tully Hall and Stern Auditorium of
Carnegie Hall. While studying in Las
Vegas with Professor Carol Stivers,
Victor won top prizes and awards at
the Bolognini Scholarship
Competition and the Music Teachers
National Association (MTNA)
competitions and was an active
performer in the music scene. He
twice performed with members of the
Las Vegas Philharmonic, and with the
Las Vegas Youth and Henderson Civic Orchestras. He
presented a recital as a part of the
Young Artists Recital Series and
performed at the 2001 World Pedagogy
Conference. Also involved briefly
with the cello, Victor has performed
the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto with
orchestra.
In Chicago, where he received his BM
with Professor Alan Chow at
Northwestern University, Victor won
top awards in the MTNA Collegiate
Piano Competition, the Union League
Arts & Civic Piano Competition and
the Thaivu-Isaak Piano Competition
of Northwestern. He also won
scholarships from the Evanston Music
Club, American Opera Society and the
National Foundation for the
Advancement of the Arts. Festival
appearances include the Banff Piano
Classes and Bowdoin Music Festival,
where, among other venues, he has
worked with Mr. Robert McDonald,
Menahem Pressler, Jerome Lowenthal,
and Richard Goode. Throughout his
studies, he has enjoyed multiple
collaborations with other young
artists including composers and
directors, resulting in several
world premieres and experimental
performances. In his spare time,
Victor can be seen exploring the
city, experimenting in the kitchen
and practicing yoga.
